The WA Regional Development Framework, developed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, sets the strategic direction for regional development across Western Australia. It outlines the State Government’s vision for sustainable, vibrant and liveable regional communities supported by strong and diversified economies.
For the Pilbara, the Framework reinforces the region’s critical role as a global economic powerhouse and provides a coordinated, place-based approach to driving economic diversification, strengthening regional liveability, supporting Aboriginal economic participation and building climate resilience.
