Regional Economic Development Grants
The Regional Economic Development grants (RED Grants) program was launched in 2018-19 and is a $60.85 million over eleven years State Government initiative that invests in locally-driven projects to stimulate job creation and economic growth in regional Western Australia.
Delivered locally by the State's nine Regional Development Commissions, up to $250,000 is available for individual projects that contribute to increasing or sustaining jobs, expanding or diversifying industry, developing skills or capability, increasing business productivity and attracting new investment to the regions.
More than $40 million has been allocated towards 415 approved projects across the nine regions from previous rounds of the RED Grants Program.
The grants will boost investment in local regional projects that contribute to population and economic growth initiatives and innovation pilots, and importantly, are driven by the community.
Regional Economic Development Grants (RED Grants) will support initiatives driven by regional organisations that will create real economic impact and employment opportunities.
The RED Grants for the Pilbara are delivered by the Pilbara Development Commission with support from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). The Commission will assess applications against funding criteria, provide recommendations to its Board for approval by the Minister for Regional Development, and manage Grant Agreements with recipients of approved projects.
