The Pilbara Development Commission has partnered with the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation to support young people in the Pilbara to access the life-changing Youth Explorer Voyage on the Leeuwin departing from Dampier this winter.

The Commission will fund half scholarships for four high school students residing in the Pilbara on voyages departing Dampier on either the 15-21 September or the 24-30 September.

"The Commission is committed to supporting the next generation of leaders in our community and is seeking applications from motivated young people who are looking to grow and develop their potential," said Michael Heap, Acting CEO of the Pilbara Development Commission.

"Investing in and encouraging the development and training of our youth is vital to our region's future growth and sustainability.

"Our Partnership with the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation will provide Pilbara students with a unique experience and a sense of achievement when they reach the end of a voyage."

Successful applicants will have 50% ($1,180) of their voyage fees covered through this partnership. Four scholarships are available in 2022 for Pilbara high school students. Transport costs to and from the ship are additional.

Applications close 1 August (please note this date has been extended).
