Pilbara Development Commission CEO appointment announced

Jul 7, 2016

It’s official; Terry Hill, who has been acting in the Pilbara Development Commission’s top job since February 2015, has formally been appointed as the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer.

Pilbara Development Commission Chairman Chris Gilmour welcomed the news.

“This is great. A fantastic outcome for the Commission, and for the Pilbara,” Mr Gilmour said.

“Terry is a valuable asset to the organisation and brings a wealth of experience in government, leadership and industry development.”

Since joining the Commission in February 2015, Mr Hill has delivered the release of the Pilbara Regional Investment Blueprint and continued the delivery of projects under the $1.7 billion Pilbara Cities program such as the Karratha City Centre Infrastructure Works, East Pilbara Arts Centre, Youth Involvement Council HQ and Dampier Community Hub.

“These achievements, among many others during his short tenure, have placed the Commission in a strong position to continue to lead Pilbara towards a brighter future,” Mr Gilmour said.

“Terry is very well regarded among our stakeholders, making the Commission a great partner in regional development.”

The Minister for Regional Development Terry Redman announced today the appointment of Mr Hill in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act 1994, after the position was advertised nationally.

Mr Hill’s appointment is effective from 5 July 2016 for a term of five years and will be based in the Commission’s head office in Karratha.

Formerly an Executive Director at the Department of Agriculture and Food, Mr Hill has held a number of senior roles in the Western Australia Government. He has had significant National experience working with industry and business carrying out Board roles on both Horticulture Australia Limited and the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation.

Mr Hill has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, a Masters in Agribusiness and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
