Grants and Funding

Royalties for Regions underpins the State Government's long-term commitment to developing Western Australia's regional areas into strong and vibrant regional communities that are desirable places to live, work, visit and invest.

Royalties for Regions focuses on delivering benefits to regional WA through five objectives:

  1. Retain and build the benefits of regional communities.
  2. Support improved, relevant and accessible local services.
  3. Enable communities to deliver a sustainable economic and social future.
  4. Assist regional communities to prosper through increased employment, business and industry development opportunities.
  5. Increase capacity for local strategic planning and decision-making.

The Pilbara Development Commission administers two annual funding rounds, the Regional Grants Scheme and the Community Chest Fund, which are made possible by Royalties for Regions.

Royalties for Regions also underpinned the landmark $1.7 billion State Government investment in the region through the Pilbara Cities initiative. More than 100 projects are still underway, making the Pilbara a vibrant place to live with first-class facilities and services.

Future investment in the Pilbara will be guided by the Pilbara Regional Investment Blueprint, a plan that sets an aspirational vision of 200,000 people living in a vibrant and economically-diverse region by 2050.
