Roebourne Enhancement Scheme

BACKGROUND

The Roebourne Enhancement Scheme (RES) was established by the State Government with the aim of improving community infrastructure and the coordination of services to Roebourne residents. The State Government allocated a total of $3.5 million to the project which was managed through the Pilbara Development Commission in partnership with the Shire of Roebourne and the Roebourne Community.

Scheme projects included:
    Roe Street Redevelopment
    Harding River Recreation Precinct
    Bush Tucker Interpretive Signage
    Roebourne Multi Purpose Courts
    Tidy Towns and Environmental Program
    Upgrade of the Old Roebourne Cemetery
    Upgrade of Andover Way and Yijardi Park
    Installation of Mt Welcome Tourist Facilities
    Removal of glass from Harding River 


LATEST UPDATE


The Scheme officially ended in December 2005, two projects are being progressed, being the relocation of the Town Oval and an upgrade of the Community Hall.

To complement the Enhancement Scheme, the Department of Housing and Works has undertaken a $1 million program to remove asbestos from contaminated sites in the town and a $1 million program to refurbish and upgrade public housing in Roebourne.
