BACKGROUND
The Pilbara Development Commission has identified access to quality childcare in the Pilbara as critical to the long term sustainability of the region. There is need to increase the amount, quality and availability of childcare to support families, broaden employment choices and attract and retain skilled workers in the region. The Commission is taking a lead role in working with relevant stakeholders to identify strategies to address the issues impacting childcare in the Pilbara. Some of these strategies include:
