Aboriginal Economic Development

BACKGROUND

The Pilbara Development Commission has a dedicated Aboriginal Economic Development Officer to provide advice and high level economic development services to Aboriginal people across the Pilbara.  This position is initially jointly funded by the Commission and the Department of Industry and Resources, through the Office of Aboriginal Economic Development.  

The role also assists with the implementation of the Pilbara Regional Partnership Agreements, a Commonwealth, State Government and Resource Sector initiative to increase employment and economic development outcomes for Indigenous people living in the region. The Officer will work with Aboriginal people across the Pilbara to identify sustainable business and employment opportunities and to assist with the development of new enterprises.
