BACKGROUND
The primary objective of Pilbara Regional Development Scheme is to improve the social and economic development of regional Western Australia through funding projects that will assist in attracting investment and increasing jobs in the Pilbara region. The Scheme is administered by the Pilbara Development Commission.
The Scheme is targeted at providing financial assistance to regionally based organisations. Eligible applicants may include local government, voluntary organisations, business groups, educational institutions, philanthropic foundations and community organisations.
State government agencies may apply but projects deemed to be within their core business functions will not be supported. The Scheme is not intended to provide support to individuals or individual businesses unless it can be shown that a significant benefit will accrue to the broader community or industry sector.
Non-regional organisations may be eligible for funding where a minimum of 80% of the project is carried out within the Pilbara region and meets all the Scheme's essential criteria. All voluntary and community groups applying for funding must be incorporated or have equivalent status.
